Forgiveness

Forgiveness. Jesus preaches it; do we live it? We were recently blessed to meet a former political prisoner from South Africa. He was in the same prison as Nelson Mandela during the Apartheid era. He was imprisoned for three years for simply being part of a peaceful protest at his university. Huge strides have been made since the 90's in his country, yet a wide gulf remains economically, socially, and politically. He could so easily hang on to his anger, could so easily want revenge. Hearing his story, I was angry. Yet our new friend's message was simple, and reiterated over and over--reconcilliation and forgiveness. Yes.
