New Life

Most of you call this a papaya tree, but here in Swaziland we call it a paw paw tree (rhymes with "no no"). The Swazis call it “lipopo,” also rhyming with “no no.” This one was a gift straight from God. We keep a compost pile and use it on our garden. Suddenly we noticed this tree springing up, apparently from seeds we'd thrown in the compost! Can't help but think of how God redeems so many of us from the compost heap and gives us new, productive life!

Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
